2017 PATH Int’l Oklahoma State Meeting

We were excited to host the 2017 PATH Int’l Oklahoma State Meeting on Saturday! There were about 47 people from 17 different centers present! It was good to see some old friends and meet some new ones! We enjoyed hearing from Liesa Persaud (PT, DPT, PCS, CKTP) about therapeutic taping for therapeutic riding, Susan Ledgerwood (Special Ed Teacher) about what makes your riders “special”, Andrea Sulk (MS, Ed) and Malarie Deardorff (MS, Ed) about riding through transition, and Judy Smith (MS, TRI, ESMHL) about the horse sense of grant writing.

Trail Blazers Summer Camp 1

Our first Trail Blazers Summer Camp on Wednesday was a success and lots of fun! Students focused on learning about trust. We began the day with a Bible study on trust, then they had a group trust exercise, next they learned how to have a trusting relationship with their horse on the ground and in the saddle, students also learned to build trust with their horse by taking proper care of it through mucking, grooming, nutrition, and taking care of the tack, next the students created a profile of their horse with their horse’s name, breed, height, weight, and color, then they created a craft to help them remember the day, they bathed their horses, and they ended the day with another trust exercise and water balloon fight.
